It gives me great pleasure to welcome delegates to the Tasmanian Nursing and Midwifery Conference to be held in Hobart 20-21 February 2020.

The World Health Organisation has declared 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife in honour of the significant and ongoing contribution of the professions to the health and wellbeing of communities around the world. Fittingly, this coincides with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Tasmania will join the global celebrations with a range of events planned across 2020.

The Conference will get us off to a great start. We will deliver a Conference program that includes motivating keynote speakers and showcases the best of Tasmanian nursing and midwifery practice, innovation, research and leadership.

Building on the positivity of the Inaugural Nursing and Midwifery Symposium (2019), this event continues our commitment to creating a positive practice environment in Tasmania where we share and inspire each other and of course, confidently lead Tasmania’s healthcare system into the future.

See you in Hobart!
